In June 2021, the only copyever allowed to be privately owned was sold at auction for a record $18,872,250 (£13.4 million). According to coin database Change Checker, the 2011 Scotland: Edinburgh City 1 coin is the rarest to have been released, with a mintage of under a million. The famous Saint-Gaudens 1933 Double Eagle holds the title of being the most valuable coin in the world.
